SwyxWare Compact - Overview
SwyxWare Compact is a fully functioning server-based IP telephony communications solution designed specifically for businesses or branch offices with up to 10 employees. It includes critical telephony applications, such as voicemail and fax, and is ideally suited to locations that require an autonomous solution where there is onsite/ easy access to (technical) support for the communications solution.
As adding additional users is not possible with SwyxWare Compact, it is an ideal solution for businesses that are focused on serving their customer base rather than growing. The fact that SwyxWare Compact can run on Microsoft Windows XP Pro makes the solution particularly cost effective for the small business. SwyxWare Compact can work in conjunction with an existing PBX, allowing small businesses to continue to leverage existing investments in traditional equipment while providing an easy migration path to IP Telephony.
SwyxConnect - Overview
SwyxConnect - is a branch gateway solution that enables SwyxWare applications and functionality at a head/main office to be ‘extended’ to a branch office with up to 16 ISDN and 16 SIP communications devices. While a Swyx server is not required at the branch office, SwyxConnect is only supported if installed in a network that includes a Swyx server at the head/main office. (The server is more likely to be SwyxWare Essential than SwyxWare Compact due to the limitation of 10 users with SwyxWareCompact.)
With SwyxConnect it is possible to either replace the current branch telephony infrastructure with a SwyxWare IP PBX solution, or to carry on using an existing PBX telephone system or handsets in conjunction with SwyxWare to gain the benefits of a Swyx IP telephony solution. In addition, SwyxConnect can also serve as an advanced network gateway function
to your branch data network, offering business-class routing, security/firewall, VPN and “lifeline” capabilities to ensure a comprehensive branch communications solution.
Under normal circumstances, communications between the branch office and head office will take place via an IP VPN over a broadband DSL/ ADSL connection. In the unlikely event that the IP VPN fails, communications between the branch office and head office can be established via ISDN or SIP. In this case, digital/ISDN, analogue and SIP phones connected to the SwyxConnect device at the branch office will still be able to make and receive phones calls via ISDN or SIP. However, if the IP VPN is unavailable, users of Swyx IP phones, IP DECT phones and the SwyxIt! softphone will need to wait until the IP VPN is restored before being able to make and receive calls.
